LANDMARK COMMUNICATIONS ACQUIRES DIGITAL ENVOY
Digital Element and Digital Resolve Business Units Positioned for Rapid Growth
Atlanta – (July 12, 2007) – Digital Envoy, Inc., the pioneer of Internet Protocol (IP) Intelligence and Geolocation technology, announced today that it has been acquired by Landmark Communications, Inc., a privately-held diversified media company. Digital Envoy is the parent company of Digital Element, the leading provider of IP Intelligence for a variety of media and Internet applications, and Digital Resolve, a leading provider of online fraud and identity theft prevention solutions.
Founded in 1999, Digital Envoy has helped to enable a richer, safer and more personalized Internet user experience by providing privacy-compliant solutions to the anonymity barriers associated with the Internet. Utilizing its patented IP Intelligence and Geolocation technology, leading online businesses are able to non-invasively uncover information about online users such as their real-time location, connection speed, and host domain. This insight has helped change the way in which online businesses of all types – from online advertisers to Internet Service Providers, e-commerce companies to financial services institutions – manage customer interactions, relationships and risk.
The acquisition continues Landmark’s strategy of acquiring leading providers of Internet services and online marketing solutions with excellent growth opportunities. Michael Alston, President of Landmark Interactive, a division of Landmark Communications, believes that Digital Envoy, through its Digital Element and Digital Resolve business units, is well positioned to build upon its core technologies to further address the unique needs of its customers.
“Digital Envoy has demonstrated strong technological leadership by building upon the intellectual property it initially developed to allow media properties to target online users,” said Alston. “Through Digital Element and Digital Resolve, the company is addressing many of the biggest challenges associated with conducting business in the online world, including creating more meaningful interactions with customers and safeguarding against fraud and identity theft.”
Bill Calpin, President and CEO of Digital Envoy, will continue to lead the company and build upon its eight years of success while leveraging the resources of Landmark Communications to expand Digital Envoy’s footprint and provide new services to clients. Co-founders Dennis Maicon, Executive Vice President of Digital Resolve, and Rob Friedman, Executive Vice President of Digital Element, will also continue to spearhead the growth of their respective business units.
“We are extremely proud to be a part of the Landmark family with our shared values that focus on integrity, employees and the needs of our customers,” said Calpin. “We look forward to building upon our momentum in all of the markets we serve and continuing to deliver innovative technology, superior products and unparalleled customer service.”
